shareHub Help + FAQ

Help!

These are some of the more commonly asked questions regarding shareHub. If your question isn't answered here, please ask us using the feedback page.

GeneralGeneral

Is shareHub really free?

Our basic file-sharing service is ad-financed and 100% free, now and forever.

Premium accounts, if and when they’re available, will likely offer additional features and services beyond the basic file-sharing service.

Do I have to register to use shareHub?

You don’t need to register to use shareHub; however, you can become a free registered member and gain additional benefits and features.

Do you have a premium/paid accounts feature?

Not at this time.

Do I have to install anything to upload or download?

You don’t have to install anything.

I get an error message during upload/download. What should I do?

Let us know about it! Send us a quick message using the feedback form and we’ll be happy to help you out.

UploadingUploading

What are the upload file size limits?

Currently the maximum file size is 500 MB.

How many files can I upload?

Only one, so make it good. Just kidding! Upload as many files as you like.

Do you provide FTP uploads?

No. We're a purely web-based service.

How long are my files kept?

There’s no time limit, but files not downloaded for more than 60 days are automatically deleted to free up space. Note that the 60-day auto delete does not apply to files uploaded by registered shareHub users. Join shareHub!

What kind of files can be uploaded?

Anything. Photos, videos, documents, zipped or not, anything can be uploaded. The only restrictions are “adult” material (pornography, nudity, etc.), offensive and/or illegal material, and copyrighted material. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more info.

Can I hotlink to my uploaded files?

No. Since the file-sharing service is ad-financed, hotlinking is not allowed to any file uploaded to shareHub.

I’ve lost my download link, can you send it to me?

Unfortunately we are unable to help you in this situation. The best solution is to upload the file again. The original file will be deleted when it has not been downloaded for 60 days.

Can I delete my uploaded files?

After uploading a file, you receive two links: a download link and a deletion link. Please keep both. If you want to remove the file from the server, you can click on the deletion link.

If you lose the deletion link, you won’t be able to delete the file and you’ll have to wait until the file is automatically deleted after 60 days with no downloads.

Registered shareHub users can simply use the 'Files' management tool in shareHub Control to delete any file without need of any special link or code.

Can I split my large file into smaller files to avoid the 500 MB limit?

Yes, you can split your files. Even if your file is less than 500 MB, splitting your file into multiple smaller files may make it easier for users to download.

There are many programs available that you can use to split files, such as WinZip and HJ-Split. Please note that we cannot offer support on how to split files.

We recommend that you simply join shareHub (for free) and avoid the messy issue of splitting files altogether. :)

DownloadingDownloading

Are there any download limits?

Files uploaded through the home page are limited to 100 downloads. However, you can get a free shareHub account and sign in to upload files with no download limitations.

Where are your servers located?

Our primary servers are located in Canada, so people in Canada and the U.S. should get the fastest speeds.

Are download managers allowed?

We don’t prohibit them, but don’t officially support them, either.

How about parallel downloads?

Not prohibited right now, but keep in mind that download speed is also limited to the bandwidth available on your internet connection. Depending on your connection speed, parallel downloads might just result in you downloading multiple files slowly.

Can I resume downloads?

Yes, so long as your browser or download manager supports it.

Can I search for files other people uploaded to shareHub?

No, because not everyone wants to share the files they upload with the whole world. This way, you can also use shareHub to backup your private files, or make them available only the to people you want.

I downloaded a file that is password protected, can you send me the password?

If the person who uploaded the file has placed a password on it, only they can give you the password. We have no control over passwords and therefore can’t give them to you.

Is it safe to download a file from shareHub?

It’s always a good idea to scan any file you download for viruses, trojans, worms, etc. before opening the file.

How do I join split files?

We recommend WinZip or HJ-Split to join split files. If the file was split using a different compression format, such as RAR, please refer to the help files of your RAR utility program if you are unsure how to proceed. We are not able to offer further technical advice.
